This online self-paced interactive course will guide faculty on how to design and create their instructional videos for their courses. Videos are used to promote content understanding and enhance the faculty-to-student engagement in simulcast-hybrid, asynchronous, and synchronous-online class sessions. It includes topics like: the dashboard, uploading content, creating pages, organizing with modules, making a home page, discussions, assignments, navigation, and examples. It is helpful to both new faculty learning Canvas, and returning faculty who are seeking resources or a refresher. From start to finish, the training should take no more than 2-3 hours to complete. It includes topics like: basic Zoom operational skills, Zoom in Canvas LTI, recording using Zoom, engaging students with Zoom, and troubleshooting Zoom. It is helpful to both new faculty learning to use Zoom with Canvas, and returning faculty who are seeking resources or a refresher. This workshop will introduce faculty/staff to Poll Everywhere, and how to use the student response software in classroom and other learning spaces. During the workshop participants will explore how to get registered, creation of polling content within Poll Everywhere as well as Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, or Google Slides Polling.
We will also guide you on downloading your class roster from Canvas into Poll Everywhere. Once polling responses have been gathered, you will learn how to export grades from the polling responses into Canvas. We recommend you bring a laptop.

This is a facilitated one-week asynchronous workshop that will introduce you to the principles of active learning and give you specific strategies that you can apply in your own classroom (online, blended, or face-to-face). You will have an opportunity to create a lesson plan and share ideas with colleagues. A CTL professional will facilitate this workshop and provide expert guidance and feedback on your lesson plan and discussions.
Goals for this Course: In this course, you will be guided through an explanation of active learning, the Interactive-Constructive-Active-Passive (ICAP) framework, and provided steps for how to integrate these into a specific lesson in your course. You will also have the opportunity to present your created lesson to your peers and receive feedback. By the end of the course, you will be able to: CO 1: Define active learning. CO 2: Interpret the levels of the Interactive-Constructive-Active-Passive (ICAP) Framework. CO 3: Develop a lesson for students using a variety of strategies rooted in the Interactive-Constructive-Active-Passive (ICAP) Framework. More

The Teachers Observing Peers (TOP) program provides UNC Charlotte faculty members with an opportunity to observe peers representing a variety of disciplines implementing interactive methods in a live classroom setting. Whether you are an instructor who has been using interactive methods for years or are trying to get ready to teach your first class, you are likely to benefit from the classroom observation by getting new ideas for effective practice and reflecting on your own practice.
